The Department of Business, Innovation and Skills (BIS) has issued updated guidance on electronic signatures. The guidance provides businesses with a basic introduction to the topic of electronic signatures and should be used by businesses as a helpful guide and preparation for new European Union laws on electronic identification services for electronic transactions.
The new guidance comes amidst comments from the European Council that failure to make greater use of electronic signatures has hindered the creation of a fully integrated digital signal market in the EU.
